First Plenary Meeting to Launch Anti-Corruption Network

11-12 December 2021 (hybrid), Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt

From 11 to 12 December, UNODC held the first plenary meeting gathering 16 countries participating in this project to officially launch the Anti-Corruption Practitioners' Network along the Silk Road Economic Belt and to discuss issues in relation to addressing corruption in international investment projects, as a pre-event of the 9th Conference of the States Parties to UNCAC in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. The two-day plenary meeting, attended by 41 participants (25 in-person and 16 online), in addition to the launch of the Network, was aimed at: (i) discussing challenges posed by corruption and economic crime in the selection, implementation and management of international investment projects; (ii) sharing experiences and knowledge in preventing and combating corruption and economic crime in international investment projects; and (iii) exploring proposals and solutions to better tackling corruption in such projects and compiling relevant good practices to guide BRI development.
